In 1962 a small group of visionary women founded the Salem chapter of National Assistance League. With a goal of offering their services to make positive changes to children and adults in need, 64 Salem women became charter members of Assistance League of Salem.

In 2008 Assistance League of Salem has nearly 450 member volunteers who continue the mission of enhancing the quality of life in the greater Salem community through service.

Philanthropic programs range from providing new clothes for high-need students; to bringing books and conversation to a house-bound senior; to assisting youth transition from the state’s foster care system to independent living.

Assistance League members look forward to greeting you and answering your questions about our projects at the Daue House Gift Shop and at Encore Furniture.

The Daue House also serves as our business office and Chapter headquarters.
